What all human beings need is what Christ came to give. What all human beings need is grace, living within us. This is what God wants to give to us this Christmas. The Spirit of the Christ child, born into our hearts, who gives us grace.
All too often, our hearts are filled with deepest sorrow about losses, through death, marriage and youth, losses of our home, friends, dreams and hopes. Our hearts become trapped by anger, and frustration, and we don't even know why. Our hearts are saddened by depression, and we are not even sure where it came from. Our hearts are confused by the complexity of the future. Our hearts need, from birth until death a never ending supply of grace. The Bible promises that from his fullness, from the fullness of Jesus Christ, he will give us grace.
To experience the mystic spell of Christmas is to experience the fullness of Christmas. To experience love within your home. To experience peace within your family and friendships. To experience peace between nations and races. To experience generosity between rich and poor. These are all symbols that point to the deepest spiritual reality of all, which is grace living in our hearts.
That is the fullness of Christmas.
